Shared Agency, Older Child Adoption Program
-
- Heritage
Adoption Services is excited to be part of the
NEW Older Child Adoption
Program offered by China Center of Adoption Affairs. This
program is separate from and operates differently than the Waiting
Child program, so PLEASE
READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY:
-
-
ü
This is a shared adoption agency
program. This means adoption agencies around the world, which
have been approved for this program, can access certain children’s
files as approved by China Center of Adoption Affairs.
-
-
ü
Heritage will not be able to verify if any other family is
interested in a child, outside of our agency. A short, two day,
hold can be placed on a child while a family confers with their
doctor or a medical specialist. We encourage families to take the
time needed to research the child’s medical condition thoroughly
and make an informed decision regarding the placement of the child
in their family.
-
-
ü
All
children’s referral information is private and confidential.
Please do not share information regarding a specific child on the
internet in any way.
-
-
ü
To
place a hold on a child the family needs to have the following
documents ready to send to Heritage via email attachment:
-
-
o
Family Picture – one picture which includes all immediate family
members;
-
o
One
passport PICTURE of each parent, scanned separately;
-
o
Home study report, current, from previous adoption, or letter on
agency letter confirming you are in the process of completing the
report.
-
-
ü
Once the decision is made to proceed with the adoption, Heritage
will confirm submission to CCAA for the finalization of the
child’s match. It is a requirement of CCAA that this decision be
made in a short period of time. We will try to give families as
much time as possible to gather the information they need to make
this life changing commitment.
-
-
ü
Heritage
will be checking the children’s files each weekday
on the CCAA database and updated this list. We will be updating the list of children daily,
Monday – Friday, to keep families as informed as possible.
-
-
ü
Once a child is matched with a family the rest of the adoption
process follows the same process as the
China Waiting Child
program. The family will need to quickly complete the dossier
paperwork. Once the dossier is received by CCAA the family will
receive the Letter of Authorization and the Travel Permission.
-
-
ü
CCAA’s adoptive parent’s requirements are also in effect for this
program.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS:
If you are even considering looking for your child on the
Shared Agency list. You should do the following:
-
-
o
Be connected to a doctor of your choice who can quickly review a
child’s referral information.
Have a back up doctor just in case.
-
o
Do not make a
decision about the child without talking to a doctor.
-
o
Research different medical conditions commonly seen for the
children on the list.
-
o
Begin your dossier and home study process. You should have started
your home study by the time you locate your child, unless you have
already worked with an agency that can move quickly. Your
completed dossier will need to be submitted to CCAA within either
three or six months. For most areas of the United States three
months is not long enough to be receive approval ( I171H) by your
USCIS office.
-
o
Consider finances carefully as this adoption program moves
quickly.
-
o
Have your family summary, family picture and passport pictures
ready to send.
