Life went from being good with one child, to better having two, and now with three daughters life is great. We arrived home with our first adopted daughter, Kiara, and realized that it was the best thing we could have done for our biological daughter Katarina. Even though they are ten years apart in age their maturity levels are not so distant that they easily become bored with each other. Katarina enjoys playing with and watching over her little sister, and Kiara likes playing pretend with big sister. Family life went from being good to getting even better. Could a second adoption and a third child make it great?
The experience with Heritage Adoption
Services leading up to our first trip to China was so positive, that
after only being home two years Pam and I began the paperwork all
over again to adopt a second daughter. Once again, Vicki guided us
through the paperwork and our dossier was sent to China without a
hitch. The CCAA made us wait even longer this time than before.
Vicki kept assuring us that we would get matched with a daughter
meant just for us. At the same time she was monitoring our American
paperwork expiration dates. When the photo of our new daughter
arrived we were ecstatic!! Now came additional paperwork in
preparation for our trip to China to pick her up. Vicki realized
that our all-important INS form was close to expiring. After making
phone calls and coming up with a strategic plan to beat deadlines,
we were off to China with only four days notice. We arrived in
Guangzhou on a Saturday night, held our new daughter for the first
time Monday afternoon, and finished our Chinese paperwork later that
week. We were sworn in at the American Consulate with our INS form a
day before it was set to expire! Vicki’s well-planned agenda enabled
us to beat an eighteen-month deadline with one day to spare. It
saved us from more waiting and additional expense. Andreas, Pamela, Katarina, Kiara & Karissa
