Joy and I looked at several adoption agencies before we found Deborah and Sue at Heritage.
After meeting with them, we knew we had found an agency that valued the same things we did, namely honesty, compassion, trust, and most importantly,
genuine concern for the birth parents as well as the adoptive parents.
Deborah and Sue were incredibly helpful in guiding us through the difficult process of matching with a birth parent. We, like you I'm sure were initially very apprehensive and nervous about the prospect of an open adoption, but they worked with us to address our concerns, and let us talk with others who had made the journey before us. We met our birth mother Lindsey (not her real name), and all our fears vanished. Ten days later we were at the hospital for the birth of our son Xavier. Thanks to the time and energy Heritage spent with Lindsey and ourselves, we all felt in our hearts this adoption was the best thing for everyone involved. The gift of our child and the happiness he brings us are indescribable. Additionally, in the two and a half years since our son was born, we have grown to know and treasure our birth mother. Deborah, Sue and the staff at Heritage made a difficult journey possible. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't recognize the hard work and dedication that made the gift of our son a reality.
