Chinese Adoption

Hank and Arianne's Story

We had been trying to have a child for years. Arianne had been pregnant a few times, but all the pregnancies ended as miscarriages. After a long period of time and a barrage of fertility tests, it didn't look like our dreams of having a child were going to happen naturally.

We had so much love to share with a child, so we started the process of becoming foster care parents. We finished our background checks, classroom time, and finger printing. We were waiting for a home study and one day a friend told us about a young couple who was placing their child for adoption through Heritage Adoption Services. Shortly afterwards we met Lynne, the Alaska representative for Heritage. We had several conversations in the following days with Lynne in Alaska, Deborah in Oregon, and her assistant Vicki. We appreciated how they kept in close contact and always answered our questions via e-mail, Skype, and telephone.

We had heard stories of the challenges people faced during adoptions with other agencies so we were skeptical at first. However, after going through the adoption process with Heritage we felt differently. We can't say enough great things about the Heritage team (Deborah, Lynne, and Vicki) and how smooth the process was. Although there were naturally moments of stress, they had a calming demeanor that kept the entire experience a hopeful one for us. The Heritage team coordinated "behind the scenes" situations that developed, but it was clear they worked many hours absorbing the emotional stressors so we didn't have to. We really appreciated their efforts and dedication toward helping us build a family.

Amazingly, it has been only a month since we have adopted our son and we are already talking about adopting an additional child through Heritage. We trust Heritage and highly recommend Deborah, Lynne, and the Heritage team to anyone hoping to make their dreams come true. They have helped make this the most wonderful time of our lives and our family of three can't thank them enough; we are so grateful!!!
