UPDATE: February 29th, 2008: Heritage is Hague Accredited!

The Hague Accreditation process began for Heritage in about 2006 and after endless preparation, paperwork, and general anxiety, we received official notice that we are accredited, and permission to announce our accreditation, today, February 29th, 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As of April 1st, 2008, only agencies who are Hague Accredited will be able to place children from other Hague countries (including China, India, and many more) – we are very proud to be one of the first agencies to be formally accredited to do these adoptions.

We’ve added this webpage to help families learn about The Hague Convention, to keep families updated on Heritage Adoption Services progress towards becoming accredited for The Hague, and to provide information about current adoption-related legislation. This page was last updated on February 29, 2008. Enjoy!

The Department of State has set February 29, 2008 as the Uniform Notification Date (UND) of applicants granted accreditation or approval to provide services in Hague Convention adoptions.  On that date, the adoption service providers who applied for accreditation or approval through either the Council on Accreditation (COA) or the Colorado Department of Human Services (CO) will be notified whether their application has been granted, denied, or remains pending.  In addition, a list of accredited, temporarily accredited, and approved providers will be posted on the Department of State website, www.Travel.State.Gov, in the Children and Families section.
